Trying To Get Everyone Involved...

01.13.13   Comets 9 - Passaic Valley 3

This was the first meeting with the struggling Passaic Valley team. The Comets came out strong and by the end of the 2nd period they had pulled ahead to an 8 - 0 lead. The young players were now getting more involved. But then as the 3rd period went on, the Comets were getting called for a lot of penalties, and their play seemed to be slipping a little, and PV managed to score 3 goals.

Now at 8-3 the game was starting to get a little tighter. The Comets started to regroup and control the play again, and managed to net one more goal, and finish with a 9-3 lead.

It Doesn't Get Any Closer!

01.11.13     Comets 1 - Dumont 0

This was the second meeting of these 2 teams in less than a week. The First game the Comets won 4-3, in a nail biter of a game. This one proved to be even closer! The game was tied 0-0 going into the second period, when it would be Evan to finally find the net and take the Comets to a 1-0 lead.

In a very exciting 3rd period, that one goal would prove to be enough to defeat dumont for the second time! In addition, it was Steven Geerlof's for shut out of the season, and of his high school career! Congrats to all the Comets for a very well deserved win!

By the way, the last picture in this post highlights goalie Steven Geerlof, even though you can barely see him. Dumont was putting on a lot of pressure at the very end of the game, and through a giant mess in from of the Comets net, somehow Geerlof managed to make a tremendous glove save to save the win! You can see the ref picking the puck out of Steven's white glove!

2nd Time As Good As The First

1.10.13   Comets 5 - Morris Catholic 1

Well, it was back to Mennen to again, face the equally small rostered Morris Catholic. The game started out pretty feisty, and both teams we pressuring pretty hard. But it would eventually be the Comets that would pressure more, and then eventually coming out on top.

Time to Eat!

The Pancake Breakfast Is A Success!

Well there was not a lot of time to prepare, and a couple of bumps along the way, but the pancake breakfast turned out to be a success! We had a huge turn out of helpers, from players to family, coaches, and friends! It was a great time, and the supporters of the fundraiser (those who were eating) seemed to enjoy the fine cooking! And in the end we actually raised a good amount of money. A huge THANKS to all that helped ... and ate!

Working Hard Pays Off!

01.05.13 Comets 4 - Dumont 3
Well the first league game of the new year was a good one. It was a closely played game and the two teams battled hard. The Comets have been moving the puck well, with some solid passing and play making. That has really helped with the short bench. This was a well played victory!
